My question is WHY would you want to?
Just use boot camp.
Either on a ppc or intel mac, if you hold down the option key and start the mac and you have either more than one partition ie. os/9 and os /x or you have a bootable cd/dvd in the drive you will get the boot target drive menu.
Its part of the firmware not the os or bootcamp, I think some people think that bootcamp acts as somekind of bootloader, from my understanding of it , it is just a wizard that creates the harddrive partitions and installs the control panel applet in windows. wow.. big deal.
The big DEAL here if your looking for why this works now when it could only be done via a hack a few weeks ago it the FIRMWARE UPDATE, it modified the EFI modules to work with legacy bios .
ITs really pointless to try to setup windows outside bootcamp unless you want to do something like a tri-boot, or boot vista (why I will never know) or something.

I have tried to Google this around for some time, but being Boot Camp very prominent, it is very difficult to find good results. Photoshop elements high sierra. I have however found a guide to achieve Windows dual boot, here: Installing Windows 10 on a Mac without Bootcamp; I was going to try this if dual GPU switching could be possible.
- Method 1: Disable New Boot Loader in Windows 8. If you find the new boot loader problematic, you can disable it permanently. Once you disable it, you’ll get Windows Vista or Windows 7 style classic boot loader which will be shown right after the BIOS screen and you’ll be able to select desired OS to use without first booting into Windows 8.
- Dual Boot Windows With Mac Os Sierra Without Boot Camp Windows 10 Step 4: Launch Disk Utility app and go to the Partition tab. Add a drive by clicking on the + symbol and naming the drive. Select the MS-DOS (FAT) format and allocate enough space for the Windows installation.

- 2012 and older models only support legacy BIOS Mode. There is varying degree of 'EFI'ness in these, but they are not UEFI-compliant.
- Late 2013-2014 models support both EFI and BIOS, and default is BIOS. These are the first models which are UEFI.
- 2015 and later models only support EFI and UEFI-compliant.
BC Assistant knows all this. It is highly recommended that you use BC Assistant only, to install Windows on Macs. Using Alt/Option to interrupt the default installation process is not recommended, unless you know what you want.
On a 2012 MBP, you need to use BIOS mode, because CSM-BIOS exports the Cirrus devices correctly but EFI does not.
